THE BIBLE AND HOMOSEXUALITY

April 6, 2009

The Biblical position on homosexuality

The bible in plain language condemned homosexuality.

To put this in clear perspective we shall examine what the bible say directly and interpreted within their context s.

In Genesis 19:4-8 the bible says “4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both young and old, all the people to the last man, surrounded the house;
5 and they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them.” 6 Lot went out of the door to the men, shut the door after him, 7 and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly.8 Behold, I have two daughters who have not known man; let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please; only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof.”

Some people have made futile efforts to claim that this passage actually showed the men of Sodom as people who are not hospitable. But this text clearly showed the mind of the men of Sodom that is to “know” the strangers. However for a clear understanding of the word “know” in this context an explanation is necessary. According to the same text in verse 8 Lot used the same word “ know” to indicate that his two daughters have never had sexual experience with any man. In other words the statement of the men of Sodom that they want to know Lot’s visitors therefore could mean nothing else but to have sexual relations with them.
This resulted to outright destruction of the city according to Genesis 19: 24-25 which says“24 Then the LORD rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; 25 and he overthrew those cities, and all the valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew on the ground.”

In Leviticus 18:22-25 which reads thus “22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. 23 And you shall not lie with any beast and defile yourself with it, neither shall any woman give herself to a beast to lie with it: it is perversion. 24 “Do not defile yourselves by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am casting out before you defiled themselves; 25 and the land became defiled, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.”

The scripture shows a passionate protest against “men lying with men as with a woman” which we now call homosexuality by calling it an abomination. This sin was grouped with beastializm. So if you defend homosexuality you should as well add beastializm because they belong to the same class.
In a similar passage the bible in Leviticus 20:13 says “13 If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them.” A death penalty hangs on the head of whoever is involve in homosexuality

In the New Testament according to St Paul in his epistle to the Romans 1:26-28 the bible says “26 For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, 27 and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct. 28 And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct.” Here also the apostle’s position on this issue of homosexuality is very explicit. The apostle makes us to understand that people become reprobate (base mind and to improper conduct) when they deliberately disobey the word of God and homosexuality is a simple sign of knowing someone with a reprobate mind.

The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 6:9 wrote as follows “9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor sexual perverts, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.” A sexual pervert is one who has ignored the natural use of human sexuality.

In his first epistle to Timothy 1:8-10 Apostle Paul also says “8 Now we know that the law is good, if any one uses it lawfully, 9 understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for man slayers, 10 immoral persons, sodomites, kidnappers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,”. This means that the homosexuals (sodomites) among other sinners are doing thing contrary to sound doctrine.

According to St Jude in verse 7 of his epistle we read “7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise acted immorally and indulged in unnatural lust, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.”

This act no doubt is a sin. It is an abomination that leads to desolation. An abomination that makes the land vomits its people. (Leviticus 18:25 “25 and the land became defiled, so that I punished its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.”)

People of God, the day a gay becomes the Archbishop of Canterbury let all Anglicans know that it will be time to go all out to terminate their relationship with the See of Canterbury because the abomination that leads to desolation has been committed.

Mark 13:14 “14 “But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; 15 let him who is on the housetop not go down, nor enter his house, to take anything away; 16 and let him who is in the field not turn back to take his mantle. 17 And alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days! 18 Pray that it may not happen in winter. 19 For in those days there will be such tribulation as has not been from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never will be.20 And if the Lord had not shortened the days, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days.”

God bless you all
